Launched in 2016 by the legendary Alessandro Gualtieri —the “Dali of Perfumery”— this Baraonda (TYPE) impression captures the warmth of a sherry cask-aged single malt, the softness of rose petals, and the embrace of a crackling fire . Its name means “chaos” or “uproar” in Italian, yet the fragrance itself is a study in balance, refinement, and quiet sensuality .

It opens with a photorealistic burst of honeyed whiskey —not sharp or gasoline-like, but smooth, mellow, and aged to perfection. A subtle tartness of red berries or cranberry weaves through the boozy warmth, adding a fruity lift .

The heart reveals an unexpected and beautiful floralcy: a full-bodied, mature rose that softens the whiskey into something almost creamy. Ambrette seeds lend a powdery, malty muskiness reminiscent of Play-Doh or marshmallow, while Ambroxan adds a contemporary, musky sheen .

The drydown is warm, woody, and slightly smoky. Resinous cedar, dry woods, and a whisper of vanilla and tonka bean ground the composition. Some detect a subtle, salty-mineral spark —an “inky, seaweed-like” nuance that adds depth without reading as aquatic . This is whiskey rendered as a watercolor, not an oil painting.

Performance is outstanding. Expect 12–15 hours on skin and days on clothing. Projection is moderate yet commanding; one or two sprays is sufficient. Best suited for autumn and winter evenings, dark bars, quality restaurants, and intimate nights in.
